Provi is looking for an in-house General Counsel to serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to the company, with a particular focus on employee relation, deal reviews, and contract building.

Reporting to the head of HR, you will work with a variety of business units impacting important business decisions while carrying out the legal departments mission to contribute to Provis success by providing clear, timely, thoughtful, professional, and practical legal advice, recommending and implementing appropriate policies, practices, and procedures to mitigate risk and control costs, being effective leaders with a focus on strategy, efficiency, and collaboration.

As our first legal hire, you will be given the opportunity to build a team while being on the forefront of innovation in the alcoholic beverage industry. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical, communication, and client management skills, strong business judgment, and a willingness to manage a broad range of legal matters.

What youll be doing

    • Negotiate, draft, review, manage, and advise on a wide variety of contracts including commercial vendor contracts, complex strategic partnerships, and membership-related agreements
    • Collaborate with business units to mitigate risk and respond to business challenges and opportunities.
    • Conduct legal research, provide advice, and present recommendations on various legal and business issues.
    • Manage Provis intellectual property.
    • Stay up-to-date and advise stakeholders on relevant industry standards.
    • Act as Provis legal representative to external legal vendors.
    • Assume primary responsibility for data- and privacy-related issues.
    • Keep abreast of current and pending changes in law potentially impacting the business.
    • Maintain knowledge of the companys legal documents and operations.
    • Handle statutory filings, such as licensing forms.
    • Develop and review legal strategy in response to any litigation.
    • Maintain a record of all legal records for the company.

What we are looking for

    • Bachelors degree and Law degree from an accredited institution required
    • 5-8 years of relevant legal experience, including law firm experience
    • Experience working at a fast growing tech startup ideal
    • Experience in fund investments, M&A, and venture capital financing
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional business judgment, including the ability to think strategically and give practical advice while balancing business needs with legal risks
    • Ability to garner trust among program/project team and stakeholders
    • Ambition to increase legal and business knowledge and skills in areas relevant to the business
    • Dedication to producing exceptional work product, with great attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various departments within the organization, as well as the Board of Directors and external parties
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients
    • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to coordinate and follow up on multiple priorities, manage time effectively and meet deadlines
    • Excellent administrative, organizational, and project management skills
    • Ability to prioritize and manage a diverse and fluctuating workload
    • Team player with general willingness to pitch in where most needed
