Boat Rocker Media is seeking an executive to join its Business & Legal Affairs department in Los Angeles as a Vice President. This executive will be primarily responsible for business and legal matters in connection with the development, production, and exploitation of scripted programming across the divisions. Depending on the candidate, responsibilities may also include unscripted productions, feature-length films, and digital media exploitation. This individual will report to the SVP, Business & Legal Affairs.

Responsibilities:
- Structuring, negotiating, documenting, and managing studio’s engagement of above-the-line talent, acquisition of underlying rights, and licensing of studio’s content on all broadcast, linear/cable, and digital platforms.
- Maintaining oversight of productions in partnership with Creative, Production and Finance to ensure a project’s creative vision is realized within studio and network/platform parameters.
- Interfacing with business and legal affairs counterparts at networks/platforms to negotiate initial licenses and ensure timely delivery of productions within the scope of those agreements.
- Providing day-to-day business and legal advice as needed to all studio departments including Creative Production, Publicity, Finance, Music, and Marketing.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD); CA or NY Bar Admission.
- Must have 5-8 years of legal experience in television and a minimum of 3 years of Business Affairs experience.
- Must have studio experience negotiating and documenting all manner of above-the-line agreements for scripted television productions as well as licenses for broadcast, linear/cable, and digital platforms.
- Must have experience as primary business & legal affairs executive responsible for production and delivery of scripted episodic television programming to initial network/platform, including familiarity with budgeting, financing, and licensing of scripted television.
- Must be familiar with terms and application of US talent guild agreements, including WGA, DGA, and SAG basic agreements.
- Strong background in intellectual property and rights options/acquisitions preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including real proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
