What were looking for:

We are seeking a General Counsel to supervise the Arcadia Legal team, currently composed of four lawyers and external consultants supporting the legal function. Experience leading a company through an IPO is a must. This role is for an attorney with broad and well-developed skills, excellent judgment, high EQ, and good business sense. We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running and immediately make valuable contributions to critically meaningful projects for Arcadia.

This role is remote-first and will report to the Chief Financial Officer. In addition to supervising the Legal team, the successful person will collaborate across the business including the teams running our community solar and platform businesses, business development, product, engineering, marketing, human resources, finance, and outside counsel.

This person should be curious, upbeat, self-reliant, and able to distill sophisticated problems to provide streamlined, practical legal advice to a very fast-paced commercial business team.

What you'll do:

  • Public company readiness: Prepare the company for its initial public offering
  • Transactional: Draft, review, edit, and negotiate contracts with a wide range of individuals, non-profits, and business organizations
  • Compliance: Advise business units on compliance with legal, regulatory and third-party obligations
  • Product counsel: Advise on the design, creation, and deployment of new products and features; participate as a legal advisor on major business transactions
  • Leadership: Lead by example as a member of the legal team to cultivate a workplace with the highest moral, ethical, and legal standards to deliver an environment that promotes respect, innovation, and creativity; help establish the legal team as a trusted partner and key ingredient to business growth

What will help you succeed:

Must-haves:

  • J.D. with excellent academic credentials, and a state bar member in good standing in a state where Arcadia does business
  • 15+ years of legal practice, including demonstrated success as in-house counsel and/or outstanding and highly shown experience at a top law firm
  • Experience as a General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer at a publicly-traded company, including leading a company through an IPO or a direct listing
  • The background vital to lead the legal operations of a company with significant international operations, including a large Indian subsidiary
  • Very practical and business-oriented approach with strong attention to detail
  • Client-service orientation and demonstrated success in handling competing deadlines for multiple internal partners with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to take feedback, learn, and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement
  • Outstanding judgment and uncompromising professional ethics
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with an international team across multiple time zones.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Community Solar, Energy Regulatory, or Utility Experience
  • Experience with high-growth, venture-funded SAAS startups
  • Demonstrated excellence at assessing risk with a flexible risk tolerance matched to the companys objectives
  • Experience leading a globally distributed team operating in multiple countries
  • Leading the legal due diligence and execution of merger & acquisition events

Target Annual Compensation Range for this role will be $200,000 to $330,000. There will also be a competitive benefits and equity (bonus if applicable) component to the package. The exact compensation at which this job is filled will be determined by the skills, experience, and location of the qualified candidate.
