SUMMARY:

The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with General Counsel to assist in identifying and monitoring potential legal issues, provide guidance and develop solutions that reduce risk for the organization.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $205,000

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide legal counsel and support to various departments within the organization, including Sales, Operations, Compliance, and Human Resources.

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, data licensing agreements, and reseller agreements, ensuring compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and other relevant consumer protection laws and regulations.

Manage relationships with resellers of consumer reports, addressing legal concerns and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Advise on corporate generalist matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, employment law, corporate secretary duties, and litigation, as needed.

Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and best practices to mitigate risk and ensure the organization's continued compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Collaborate with the General Counsel and other members of the legal department to develop and execute the organization's legal strategy.

Provide guidance and support to the organization during regulatory examinations, audits, and investigations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and current admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within the consumer reporting, credit reporting, or financial services industries.

Strong expertise in contract drafting and negotiation, with a focus on agreements related to technology, consumer reporting and reseller relationships.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and other relevant consumer protection laws and regulations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENTCIES:

Experience in corporate generalist matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, employment law, corporate secretary duties, or litigation.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide sound legal advice in a fast-paced environment.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent organizational skills, time management and demonstrated ability to work independently.

Experience with legal operations software, such as entity management (CSC), matter management, legal holds and contract lifecycle management (Evisort) highly desired
