Responsible for being a legal advisor to the President and CEO and the executive leadership team; managing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Legal function including International Trade Compliance pertaining to import and export compliance (ITAR/EAR), technical data standards, as well as creating, reviewing and maintaining all legal contracts associated with the global business - e.g. 3rd party sales agreements, OEM agreements, formal legal communication with customers. Ownership of relationships with all 3rd party legal counsel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

Advisor to the President and CEO and to the executive staff

Oversee administrative functions related to all legal and international trade compliance related matters

Main point of contact for all matters related to State Department and Commerce Department

Manage the submission of applications for export licenses and agreements to appropriate agencies

Partner with Human Resources on all ethics reporting

Coordinate with Human Resources on all internal investigations

Oversee and reports on the status of all open licenses and agreements

Review escalated orders to meet international trade compliance standards

Manage storage and distribution of technical data both internally and externally

Coordinate regular training related to areas of responsibility

Communicate regulatory changes and relevant international trade issues with senior management and staff, as required

Design, implement, and maintain policies and practices that ensure business units are in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements related to International Trade, FCPA, Anti-Boycott, and additional regulations

Own creating, reviewing and maintaining all legal contracts and agreements associated with the global business

Keep current with changes in regulations affecting operations and implements revised practices accordingly

Ensure due-diligence processing for potential Sales Representatives and Customers

Maintain corporate training on regulatory compliance subjects

Conduct compliance audits, analyze results, and generate reports and potential policy recommendations to appropriate departments

Conduct risk assessments

Understand and perform functions in accordance with AS9120 and ISO9001 Standards

Develop and maintain legal department budget

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for any assigned direct reports

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems of subordinate(s)

Language Skills:

Fluent in English

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree

Juris Doctorate degree

Minimum 20 years’ experience with a combination of private practice and corporate practice

Minimum 5 years' as a leader of Trade Compliance

Trade certifications, a plus

Customs Brokers license, a plus

Aerospace or military industry experience highly desired

Technical Requirements:

Knowledge of trade regulations (ITAR, EAR)

ISO9001/AS9100 Series

Travel:

Approximately 15% domestic travel
