The General Counsel will be responsible for providing high quality and strategic legal advice on general real estate, finance and corporate matters supporting our senior living communities. The General Counsel will also work closely with operations, facilities management, construction, human resources, resident care, sales, and marketing in connection with the executive management team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Manage attorneys and paralegals in all legal activities and functions of the organizations, including supervising outside counsel when required.

Understand company operational requirements and provide general legal advice to the executive team.

Create strategies to achieve high quality results in transactions, litigation, corporate structuring and all other legal matters.

Oversee effective negotiation, drafting, and review of purchase and sale agreements, construction related contracts, and financing documents.

Create a library of practical standardized agreements/contract templates for key documents in operational, financial, transactional, ownership structure, construction, and development, providing direction to users.

Oversee compliance with relevant applicable state, federal, and local laws and regulations.

Oversee legal issues including ongoing ventures, property acquisitions, and investor

Render general advice to cross-functional departments on various agreements and structuring issues.

Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization.

Manage attorney and paralegals in corporate law and litigation proceedings, including supervising outside counsel when required.

Additional assignments as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

D. from an ABA accredited law school.

Minimum of 15 years of law firm and in-house practice experience with a concentration in real estate, finance, and commercial areas preferred

Experience with hospitality and multi-family real estate projects highly preferred, with healthcare experience a plus

Must be admitted to practice law in the State of Colorado.

Attorney’s license must be current, active and in good standing.

Continuing education requirements must be current.

Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships, influence, motivate and manage well at all levels of the organization.

Strong negotiation skills and ability to interact with legal and business leaders internally and externally.

Acumen to effectively balance compliance with the law against business goals and initiatives and orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Excellent legal, business and practical judgment with strong problem-solving skills.

High energy level and demonstrated ability to guide multiple objectives and initiatives simultaneously with a customer service attitude.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to resolve time sensitive issues and respond to requests in an organized manner with effective follow-through.

Hands on approach and high level of attention to operational execution with a team-oriented approach.

Collaborative leader that balances individual motivation with company goals, managing an independent team effectively.
