You will be responsible for managing all legal matters for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) business of Honeywell’s Safety & Productivity Solutions division. PPE is a global leader in providing comprehensive solutions in General Safety and High-Risk safety, including hearing conservation, fall protection, respiratory safety, and eye/face/head protection. PPE draws on Honeywell’s exceptional technology and innovation capabilities to develop new materials, electronics, sensors, and communication systems. The future of PPE lies in focusing on growing the healthcare market, integrating hardware, software, and services to create an eco-system that delivers enhanced safety and productivity for multiple customer sets. In this role, you will be responsible for handling and overseeing commercial contract template development and negotiations; disputes (formal and informal); intellectual property matters (in conjunction with internal IP counsel); legal compliance; joint ventures, alliances and M&A; and the budget. You will anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems, as well as develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk tactically and programmatically.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serving as a key member of the PPE and SPS Law Department Leadership teams

Identifying and analyzing legal issues

Providing legal advice to a range of clients, including senior management

Collaborating to effect strategic business objectives

Coaching and development of business partners and team members

Identifying areas for process improvement and executing improvements

Developing and implementing compliance reviews and initiatives

Selecting, directing and managing external counsel

YOU MUST HAVE

Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent foreign degree

Capacity to be licensed to practice as in-house counsel in North Carolina

At least ten years of professional legal experience, including transactional or litigation experience at a law firm or counseling experience within a corporate legal department

Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts

General counseling experience, including working knowledge of IP, antitrust, anti-corruption, employment and environmental law

Experience managing formal and informal disputes, especially contentious warranty claims and related insurance matters

Experience leading teams, either through direct management or demonstrated project execution and oversight

Experience advising clients in a complex products business with global operations

Ability to work independently to execute key initiatives in a timely manner

Experience managing regulatory issues associated with the marketing and selling of products which require FDA, NIOSH and other agency or third-party certifications
