THE ROLE

We are looking for a General Counsel with Fintech and/or banking experience to own all legal matters at Akoya. As our GC, you will provide leadership and guidance on a wide range of legal matters including, contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, litigation matters, data privacy issues, internal policies, regulatory compliance, litigation, and general corporate matters.

Manage and negotiate all legal matters on behalf of Akoya

Oversee selection, retention, management and evaluation of all outside counsel

Serve as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee

Provide strategic legal guidance to the executive team to ensure appropriate risk management

Once appointed, act as Board Secretary for the Akoya Board of Directors

THE SKILLS YOU NEED

Broad knowledge and understanding of the banking regulatory environment, preferably with experience working with banks (or within a bank)

Proven ability to exercise good judgment evidenced by anticipating legal risks, effective communication, and a high degree of ethics and integrity

Strong practical experience in drafting and negotiating transactions with a particular focus on software, software-as-a-service and related technology fields

Create and manage legal templates and automate processes to enable scaling of legal operations

Experience advising on HR policies and issues

Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to a wide audience of stakeholders within the Company

Demonstrate an ability to creatively solve problems in a manner consistent with the Company’s culture and ethics

Ability to cooperate and work effectively with a team on a diverse set of topics

Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize duties and delegate where necessary

Certifications preferred in privacy/data security fields (CIPP/US, CIPM, etc.)

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school

Admission to the bar of one or more states where the company does business

5+ years of experience in a major law firm, banking regulatory agency, or in-house legal department

Experience in Fintech and/or banking required
