Oversees and executes the provision of all legal matters for The Learning Experience, ensuring complete protection of its legal rights and operations within the limits prescribed by law.

Proactively anticipates and identifies critical challenges to which the application of legal principles will minimize risk and maximize profits, considering applicable contract terms, laws, and regulations.

Develops legal strategies and solutions, often in situations of great regulatory, public relations, or financial risk or significance.

Provides strategic guidance, consultation, and solutions-oriented support to senior leadership and other internal team members on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues with the highest levels of rigor.

Implements processes, document management and tracking mechanisms for all matters pertaining to real estate transactions, contracts and leases, franchise documents, tax matters, worker's compensation, liability and insurance matters, personnel law, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and other laws and regulations.

Reviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues.

Represents or oversees the representation of the company and management in judicial and administrative proceedings, and in negotiations with other state agencies.

Efficiently manages all aspects of litigation issues and disputes for the organization. Selects and retains outside counsel, as required, to obtain legal opinions or to handle claims and litigation.

Drafts, reviews, amends and approves contracts, leases, policies and procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other legal documents; researches legal issues and recommends revisions as necessary.

Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure for the legal department to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in the childcare sector and in other related areas.

Minimum Job Requirements

J.D. from an American Bar Association accredited law school; at least 15 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

In-house corporate or law firm experience related to franchising and complex business systems.

Subject-matter focused experience with negotiating, drafting, and revising complex commercial real estate agreements and related documents.

Experienced in business litigation and/or employment law matters.

Highly proficient in communication, relationship building, writing, analysis, reasoning and organization.
