Nomi Health is the modern payment system for employee healthcare. We sidestep the middlemen, and connect employers providers and families directly at scale to cut healthcare costs by 30% across America. We will do this by eliminating high cost “out of network” charges, making the process all digital with easy access to real data and understandable actions.

The company is in stealth mode right now and has raised over $10M in seed funding which will be used to hire and develop the product, technology and go-to-market team.

Nomi Health is led by Mark Newman (Founder/CEO) , Josh Walker (Co-Founder, COO) and Boe Hartman (Co-Founder, CTO). Both Mark, Josh and Boe have a proven track record in the HR Tech, Health Tech, Health plans, Pharmacy and Financial Service industries. Mark, previously Founder/CEO of HireVue where he scaled the company from 0 to $40m ARR with a successful exit of over $500M. Josh, comes with 18+ years of experience in healthcare as COO at Imagine Health, Upwell and OptumInsight where he has first-hand experience in international and domestic healthcare markets leading and expanding business growth. Boe has served in multiple senior positions across global banking for over 25 years. Most recently, at Goldman Sachs as a Partner, where he led the firm’s launch of it’s digital consumer bank; Marcus By Goldman Sachs and the firm's entry into the consumer credit card market.

WHY IS THIS ROLE CRITICAL?

Due to the challenges of COVID-19, we are helping governments scale to meet the challenges of testing for COVID-19 with increased access, quality and efficiency. We are also actively building our financial services and payments business and do work with the banking industry for Nomi Direct. We need a General Legal Counsel who can provide legal services related to healthcare and financial services related to COVID-19 testing and financial services for healthcare payments.

WHAT IS A DAY IN THE LIFE?

The General Counsel will play a critical role in providing strategic legal advice, working with other key internal and external stakeholders, driving internal governance, and risk management activities for our organization. The successful candidate will be an experienced attorney and leader who is capable of working with, and providing legal advice to, our executive team and the Board.

OK, HOW ABOUT A FEW SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES?

Provide counsel, legal opinion and legal interpretation to management and the Board on a wide range of legal matters

Oversees the definition and development of corporate compliance activities including the creation of policies, procedures and programs

Oversees the drafting, reviewing and approval of all company agreements, including key agreements relating to customers, partnership arrangements, suppliers and vendors, payers, distributors, software and technology licensing, employment and consulting

Oversees corporate governance, including maintenance of corporate records working with outside counsel, where required,

Stays informed of changes to law and regulations and advising management about any impact to the business

Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company. Advise on changes in laws and regulations. Build and manage legal processes in conjunction with other functional leads. Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues

Manage the day-to-day activities and outcomes of the legal department

WHAT TYPE OF THINGS HELP ME THRIVE IN THIS ROLE?

J.D. degree from an accredited law school and Utah Bar Registration

10-15 years of relevant experience, either in-house or in a legal practice

4-5 years in the software/SaaS industry and or healthcare

Proven Legal background in: corporate law, litigations, employment law, data privacy, compliance, M&A, IPO process

Innovative, flexible, and experienced corporate lawyer with business-oriented outlook and strategic experience

Ability to collaborate, interact with, and influence members at all levels of the company, including executives

Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks, develop legal strategy and to advise accordingly

Excellent judgement and analytical skills

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Strong ethics and integrity

Exceptional ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks based on evolving business needs
