What you will be doing:

As General Counsel, you will lead the Legal team as an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking operator and thought leader. You will be responsible for structuring and negotiating key deals and agreements, setting legal strategy, and serving as a trusted resource to the rest of the organization. You will build out and manage our Legal and Compliance team to ensure success in Eden’s next phase of growth. You will manage outside counsel, particularly when it comes to health regulatory work. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work across all disciplines including Revenue, Finance, Clinical, Operations, and Product, and People to drive company-wide policies, compliance, and legal strategy.

What success looks like:

  • Negotiate, oversee, and draft key agreements and structure new business relationships
  • Advise the executive team on business expansion and growth strategies
  • Oversee the legal components of financings and diligence
  • Assume role as Privacy Officer and coordinate with our VP of Engineering and Security Officer on HIPAA compliance
  • Advise and negotiate vendor agreements
  • Lead legal strategy for product, technology, and operations
  • Provide guidance and stay up to date on state and federal regulations in partnership with outside regulatory counsel
  • Own and manage relationships with all outside counsel
  • Develop and implement employee training programs in collaboration with our People team

What you will bring:

  • JD degree and 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or a scaling start-up
  • Experience negotiating large, complex deals
  • A practical and business-oriented approach to driving legal strategy
  • Ability to surface legal and compliance risk and provide appropriate and timely solutions
  • Experience advising and counseling management on a wide range of legal matters impacting ongoing business operations
  • Strong communication, both written and oral
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure in a fast-moving, dynamic organization
  • Excellent critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making ability, including the ability to weigh the short- and long-term costs and benefits of a potential action.
