Vicarious Surgical is looking to add a General Counsel to our Leadership Team. This is a newly-created role that includes providing legal counsel to the Board of Directors, CEO and other senior management. The General Counsel must possess strong initiative, excellent management and leadership skills, and a strong business acumen. The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure while helping the company grow and accomplish its business objectives.

As General Counsel, you will have the opportunity to be a strategic leader, trusted thought-partner, and advisor on legal and business issues. Working closely with the Leadership Team, you will help build the business and future of our company. You will also help address new and exciting legal issues as we grow in revenue, headcount, and complexity.

Responsibilities:

Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team on corporate strategy and planning.

Advise our leadership and core teams to help us understand when to take risks, how to mitigate them, and when to avoid them.

Provide ongoing legal counseling in various areas including corporate law, employment law, intellectual property, privacy law, etc.

Lead and scale the corporate function including fundraising, M&A, and corporate governance.

Interface with our key partners (including customers, partners, and regulators) to advise on regulatory and privacy-related issues.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Legal Department, managing a high performing team.

Ability to build and expand the Legal Department as the company scales.

Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate as needed.

Ensure the company maintains compliance with applicable laws and regulations in all areas of the business.

About You

Passionate individual who embraces Vicarious Surgical’s mission.

12+ years of legal experience; a combination of law firm and in-house experiences a plus.

Must have a J.D. from accredited law school.

Trusted advisor and valued partner to the management team. Impeccable integrity throughout all day to day tasks.

Strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills with extraordinary attention to detail.

Self-starter who can work well independently while establishing and building strong cross-functional partnerships.

Experience in Medical Device a plus.
