Young Mayden, LLC, a legal search and consulting firm, www.youngmayden.com, has been retained by Railinc in Cary, North Carolina, to identify and screen candidates for their first General Counsel, who will report directly to Railinc’s President/CEO. Position Description:
The Railinc General Counsel will serve as chief in-house attorney, responsible for all day-to-day legal affairs of the company and provide legal counsel and advice to Railinc’s leadership team and the Railinc Board of Directors. The GC will report directly to Railinc’s President and CEO. Regular areas of focus include employment, contracting, intellectual property, antitrust, corporate law, and compliance. The Railinc GC will coordinate and collaborate with, and have access to legal support from the Association of American Railroad's (AAR) Law Department.
Qualifications and Desired Characteristics:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice in North Carolina
- 8+ years relevant legal experience
- Outstanding judgment, impeccable ethics and integrity.
- Mastery of communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information to internal and external audiences.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; business acumen and judgment; strategic legal thinking; initiative.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- A strong team player attitude, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
Railinc is a ~$75 million Delaware for-profit corporation located in Cary, North Carolina. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the AAR, a non-profit association representing North American railroads. Railinc’s primary business is Software as a Service (SaaS) and Data as a Service (DaaS) serving the North American freight rail industry. Among other functions, Railinc provides IT support for the operation of the rail interchange system in North America and offers a variety of commercial products and services to customers. Railinc also provides support for some of AAR’s standard setting activities.
