Prudential is seeking a highly talented, experienced attorney to join our Distribution Law team. This attorney will be the Chief Legal Officer of Prudential Annuities Distributors (PAD), a FINRA registered wholesaling broker-dealer for Prudential’s Individual Life and Annuities businesses. PAD distributes a range of individual life insurance and annuities products through Prudential’s proprietary sales force and third-party distributors. This attorney will lead a team responsible for handling a full range of legal matters that arise in connection with the sale, marketing, and distribution of variable and fixed life insurance and annuities products issued by Prudential.

This position will give the attorney broad exposure to a variety of business and corporate partners, and the opportunity to work on challenging legal issues critical to the success and growth of Prudential and the ability of consumers to get access to the insurance and financial solutions that they need.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing legal and regulatory advice to business and corporate partners in support of PAD and Prudential’s overall insurance and annuities distribution. Serving as an active partner with senior business leaders.

Representing Prudential in industry and other trade groups to evaluate evolving legal and regulatory issues that could impact Prudential’s distribution businesses.

Representing and counseling PAD and Prudential’s insurers and other broker-dealers with respect to SEC, FINRA, and other federal and state regulatory matters.

Keeping management and other personnel up to date on pertinent legal, regulatory and industry developments.

Managing and developing a team of lawyers responsible for supporting Prudential’s insurance and annuities distribution.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of law firm, regulatory or in-house law department experience as an attorney.

Relevant experience with and knowledge of the laws, regulations and rules that apply to

Exemplary leadership skills with a capacity to easily partner and collaborate with business, legal, compliance and other corporate partners, including both senior management and technical experts.

Superior analytical skills.

An ability to write and communicate clearly and simply in providing focused, technically-sound, and actionable legal solutions.

Courage and confidence to speak up, challenge and advocate for a point of view respectfully.

An ability to engage in intelligent risk taking and show excellent judgment in comfortably making clear, rational and timely decisions in the best interests of Prudential and our customers despite ambiguity, complexity, and an ever-evolving regulatory environment.

Strong work-ethic, with an ability to work independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

Intellectual curiosity and an appetite for learning new legal disciplines and business areas.

JD degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in at least one state, and ability to register as in-house counsel in New Jersey, if not admitted to the bar in that state, within the required timeframe.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $235,500.00 to $318,600.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
