POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our General Counsel (GC) will need in-house experience within the contingent labor space. The General Counsel will be assisting with contracts vetting and negotiation, employment law issues, compliance with Government contracts, and other legal matters that may arise. This position will work directly with the Executive team, including, but not limited to, the CEO, the CFO, the President of Operations and the VP of People and Engagement. The General Counsel will work with internal staff to deliver advice for any legal matters that take place with our internal employee population, as well as our associate population. This role may require direct communication with our clients, as well, as needed. This role is key to keeping Atrium in a state of compliance and efficiency, while creating customer service oriented and scalable solutions to set the Business up for future growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL:

Providing lead legal support to Atrium regarding employment and labor-related matters, which may include employee relations issues, policy development, and employee benefit plan compliance

Assuring company compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act, State and local wage and hour laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII, and ERISA

Providing lead legal support to Atrium in the procurement of federal and state government regulated work, including but not limited to, the Services Contract Act (SCA)

Overseeing and handling the company’s response in various dispute proceedings including federal and state litigation matters and administrative proceedings before the EEOC and state human rights agencies

Assisting as needed on labor and employment issues for the company’s operations

Overseeing and managing the company’s response in various disputes proceedings including federal and state litigation matters and AAA arbitrations

Identifying and analyzing legal issues, and effectively communicating sound, understandable legal recommendations to the appropriate business team members

Actively participating in a collaborative manner in cross-functional business teams to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex business issues and risks

Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies generally applicable to the company’s business

Handling other projects and matters as may be assigned from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GENERAL COUNSEL:

Possessing significant employment law and contract expertise, with 3 - 5 years of relevant experience within a law firm and/or in-house legal department

Expertise operating in a complex regulatory environment and/or an innovative or rapidly-growing company or similar business venture, is strongly preferred

Experience with Government contracts

Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to handle difficult issues in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner

The ability to approach all issues with a benefit/risk analysis so partners can make decisions that are compliant and relevant to our business and our risk appetite, as dictated by the partner team

Self-starter who will initiate projects and anticipate needs before they become critical

Ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines within a changing, fast‐paced environment

Strategic thinker with a solutions orientation with creative problem-solver with customer focus and "can do" attitude

Team player with strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and presentation skills

Proven history of easily building rapport and developing cross‐functional relationships with all levels of an organization and functional expertise

Good standing in a state bar with the ability to join the New York and/or New Jersey bar as in-house counsel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for extended periods of time

Some travel may be required - 10% or less

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Juris Doctor in law, successful passing of the bar exam, and a valid state license.
