Security Finance is hiring a Secretary and General Counsel! As Secretary and General Counsel you can expect to:

  • Develop, direct, train and manage a legal department that works closely with senior management to ensure business operations which reflect the tenants of the corporate Mission and Value Statements
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance business needs within the legal and regulatory environment
  • Manage contracts from vendors for compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Negotiate, draft, and/or review legal documents such as employee contracts, bank transactions, consumer loan agreements, purchase or sale agreements, leases, etc.
  • Partner with other departments to create policies that provide solutions to operating in a highly regulated environment
  • Assist on responses related to employee grievances, benefits plan inquiries, discrimination charges, employee and customer record subpoenas, garnishments, customer inquiries, etc.
  • Manage information gathering and responses to governmental examinations and customer complaints from any state or federal agency or Better Business Bureau
  • Recommend the hiring of outside counsel as needed for litigation or special projects such as intellectual property matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, etc.; manage the relationship, and evaluates the effectiveness of the relationship
  • Assist in organization of new entities or dissolution of existing entities
  • Monitor the function of the legal department and its interactions with other departments in order to recommend changes that can result in improved efficiencies for the company
  • Perform corporate governance functions that accurately meets all required reporting and record keeping
  • Partners with other departments to review and approve materials such as marketing materials, publicity statements, training materials, etc.

You could be a great addition as a Secretary and General Counsel, if you have/are:

  • 15 years of relevant experience in a law office and as in house counsel; corporate counsel experience in a regulated or financial services environment is preferred
  • Proven supervisory capabilities over departmental staff to include hiring, on-boarding, performance evaluations, etc.
  • Team player that can interact and communicate effectively with diverse employee groups from branch to executive level
  • The ability to travel occasionallyOccasional travel required
