In particular, we are looking for a General Counsel of our Launch Services Division.

What We're Looking For

We are a looking for a tech-savvy, enthusiastic corporate counsel to play an influential and impactful role in a high-growth, fast paced environment. In this role, you will advise our Launch Business on a wide range of legal matters such as corporate policy, international, transactional, M&A, intellectual property, commercial and government contracts, litigation, capital raise filings and other regulatory and legal matters as required. This role will report directly to the CEO of Spaceflight, Inc. (our Launch division) and to the General Counsel at Spaceflight Industries Inc. (our parent company).

Responsibilities

Responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives for our Launch business.

Provides counsel to senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, and oversight of outside counsel.

Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors.

Responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating key contracts (including client contracts and partnership agreements, commercial contracts, and government contracts) and financing documents.

Provide counsel and guidance on all legal matters; keep abreast of legislative changes.

Collaborate with Finance, Security, People Operations, and Key Leadership to manage compliance, corporate governance, and risk management.

Provide legal advocacy to executives and our parent company on matters of Information Security in the protection of digital assets and PII owned or licensed.

Serves as key lawyer/legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures.

Assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations (international and CONUS)

Advises on legal aspects of the company’s financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.

Build strong, productive two-way partnerships with colleagues, business investors and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

A strategic and operationally focused senior leader who provided counsel on complex and significant matters that transcend legal arenas (M&A, Regulatory, Licensing, Contracts, Financial, Labor, and International channels)

Experience with International government diplomacy including working with Ministries of Defense effectively and proactively.

Previous experience working in a start-up tech environment and the ability to thrive in this type of environment.

The successful candidate will have a track record as a senior executive in high-growth companies with a background in commercial businesses, D&I, and start-up technology.

The General Counsel must be a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of data privacy protection laws and demonstrated success engaging directly with the Board of Directors and key stakeholders.

S/he must have a work style and pace that makes things happen, with a strong work ethic, low ego, and bias for initiating positive change through collaboration.

The candidate must also be passionate, visionary, engaging, energetic, and have high integrity.

Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, contract law, etc.)

Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives

High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas

Excellent judgement and analytical skills

First class interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to anticipate legal issues and/or risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Juris Doctorate Degree

License to practice law in the US

Supervisory Responsibility: Lead the Contracts & Legal team.

Work Environment: This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Travel: This position requires up to 25% travel. Travel is often outside the local area and overnight. Some of the travel is international.
