Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Counsel - VP Corporate Compliance combines both in-house legal counsel with the oversight of compliance.

Responsibilities:

· Providing general legal advice, support, and services on a broad range of topics and issues including labor and employment law.

· Review, draft, and negotiate all manner of commercial contracts, including customer and supplier agreements, master supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, settlement agreements, etc.

· Draft and revise contract templates for use in various transactions, and support the improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.

· Lead the management and resolution of claims and litigation.

· Partner with local, state and federal agencies (OMH, OASAS, etc.) by monitoring rules, regulations, and standards applicable to the Hospital.

· Coordinates and completes applications for licensure, certification, and accreditation.

· Provides guidance, implementation and maintenance of organization’s Corporate Compliance Program and HIPAA Privacy policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar. The preferred candidate will have five to ten years of full-time experience being responsible private practice or in-house legal experience dealing with healthcare provider legal issues with focus on health information privacy, security and/or clinical related matters.
