General Counsel

The General Counsel will effectively and responsibly lead Bisk's corporate strategic and legal initiatives as well as provide legal expertise and support to Bisk's Executive Leadership Team ("leadership") and employees. General Counsel will review and interpret laws, rulings and regulations to advise on legal matters including but not limited to, federal and state regulatory compliance, financial and technology contracts, sales and marketing, risk management, and intellectual property. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge in higher education as well as a wide range of legal and business areas. The General Counsel will liaison with a trusted network of legal advisors on additional administrative matters, including real estate, trademarking, and labor and employment issues.

Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, and execute all legal operations at Bisk

Assist in executing business development and partnerships

Negotiate, draft, and review agreements and all other instruments to be entered into or executed by Bisk

Provide leadership with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation

Partner with leadership in protecting the interests of Bisk and its partners in accordance with Bisk's mission, applicable laws and regulations

Provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues, and propose practical, responsive solutions

Identify and implement improvements to forms and processes

Identify and monitor legal requirements and government reporting regulations

Remain abreast of case law and rapidly evolving regulatory mandates that impact the higher-education industry

May confer with colleagues with specialty in areas of law to establish and verify basis for legal decisions

Manage Compliance team and a staff attorney

Handle all other legal matters as may be assigned by the CEO

Responsible for information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Bisk information assets in accordance with the company's information security program

Requirements:

Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school. Admission in good standing to a State bar, license must be current and remain current during employment term

Member of the Florida Sate Bar is preferred

Minimum 7-10 years of relevant full-time experience

Stellar communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Excellent negotiation, organization, prioritization and time-management skills

Sound business judgment and adaptability to manage multiple, wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required

Background working in a regulated industry

Experience in higher education preferred but not required
