Job Title: Legal & Compliance – General Counsel, Strategic Partners

Job Description:

Blackstone’s Legal & Compliance team seeks a General Counsel to oversee the legal functions for Strategic Partners (“SP”) business activities. Primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all legal documents relating to transaction negotiation and execution for SP
  • Advising on fund formation and legal matters relating to fund marketing
  • Partnering with the SP Chief Compliance Officer to implement the funds’ compliance programs
  • Providing legal support to investor reporting and correspondence
  • Coordinating with funds’ investment and operational professionals regarding all fund matters

Qualifications:

Strategic Partners seeks candidates that are highly motivated and creative individuals who have demonstrated academic achievement, and have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • 15+ years of directly related legal experience in a law firm, private equity or alternatives-focused firm with substantial knowledge of relevant rules and regulations
  • Undergraduate degree and JD with outstanding record of academic and professional accomplishment
  • Demonstrated effective written communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • A driven individual with a strong sense of personal integrity
  • Strong technical skills, sharp intellect, and experience to resolve difficult, complex legal and business problems
  • An enthusiastic team member who collaborates well with others and builds strong working relationships
  • Client-focused and committed to developing creative solutions
  • Self-motivated and resourceful; able to multi-task and focus on delivering results
  • Project leadership, including excellent organizational skills and follow-through
  • Resilient, flexible, open to feedback and focused on achieving excellence
