The General Counsel is responsible for overseeing, managing, updating and maintaining the company's compliance management system. This position is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the compliance issues of the company in an independent manner, keeping the company's executives informed and updated on the compliance programs and procedures. The Chief Compliance Officer must be able to build strong relationships with all levels of the company, interface with all internal and external contacts in a professional manner, and interact with states, agencies, vendors, employees, and internal departments to fulfill requests and obligations.

Responsibilities:

· Manage day-to-day operation of the compliance department

· Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop corrective action plans for resolution of any identified issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future

· Management of exams and licensing for the company, branches, and Mortgage loan originators

· Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure compliance issues are addressed, investigated, resolved and once resolved, continually adhered to in practice

· Respond to state/federal agency inquiries and complaints

· Advise management as to changes in applicable laws and regulations, and the effect of those changes on company practices

· Responsible for the accuracy and review of the HMDA data contained in the mortgage loan origination system

· Develop, maintain, and/or revise policies and procedures related to the general operation of the company

· Work with Human Resources to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers

· Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all compliance programs and activities as they relate to the company's needs

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s Degree required

· Juris Doctorate Required

· 3+ years’ experience managing the compliance function for a depository institution or state-licensed mortgage banker

· 3+ years’ experience managing personnel

· Knowledge of Encompass Loan Originator System preferred
