The General Counsel shall report to the Chief Executive Officer, and shall direct, an otherwise be responsible for the following activities and undertakings of AnMed Health (AH).

Legal Function

Contract Management

Risk and Insurance Management

Compliance (through direct participation in the Executive Compliance Committee, and involvement in Compliance related activities)

Support Worker Safety, Workers’ Compensation and Emergency Preparedness

Patient Service Recovery and Risk Mitigation

Corporate and Governance Activities

Reporting and Record Maintenance

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Activities

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires JD or graduate Law Degree and must maintain active membership in SC State Bar.

EXPERIENCE

Requires five (5) years experience in acting as liaison with Senior Executive Staff on all matters potentially affecting the legal position, direction and vulnerability of the organization.

At least five (5) years experience in healthcare in Risk Management, Safety Management and Worker’s Compensation.

Five (5) years experience in industrial or insurance management in Safety or Risk Management.

Should possess skill in staff development and performance management.

Other Qualifications

The General Counsel should have a thorough command of language and be skilled in the art of negotiation, persuasion, and communication both orally and in writing; and

Effectively perform or cause to be performed legal research to enable the organization to satisfactorily meet its legal objectives and obligations.
