TITLE: General Counsel - South Florida

LOCATION: Sunny Isles Beach, FL (Office Environment / No Remote Work)

As General Counsel - South Florida, you will be charged with executing the below four strategies that are absolutely essential to achieving our ambitious growth goals:

Diligently and efficiently drafting retail leases in a fast-paced environment in collaboration with our leasing team and managing the negotiation with outside counsel, with a focus on finalizing and executing leases in the most efficient manner.

Providing legal support to the team for all lease/leasing-related matters including but not limited to brokerage agreements, lease modifications and amendments, and resolutions to tenant disputes.

Serve as a senior member of the property acquisition team while taking ownership of the Purchase and Sales Agreement process. This will include but not be limited to collaborating with Ownership, Finance, and outside parties to execute successful closings.

As Senior Management, the General Counsel - South Florida will provide Human Resource and leadership support to the Southern Florida office. This will involve working closely with ownership and other senior leaders to successfully implement and manage the policies and procedures set forth in the company handbook.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

While the primary responsibility of the General Counsel - South Florida will be to draft/negotiate leases and provide legal support to leasing functions, below are some details of those functions along with other duties.

Negotiating and drafting leases and purchase and sale agreements

Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing lease amendments, SNDA’s, and estoppels

Handling leasing issues and real estate related disputes

Reviewing title commitments, exception documents, and surveys

Participating in meetings to review the status of due diligence items and contractual deadlines for all projects in the pipeline

Successfully closing purchase and sale transactions

Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing construction agreements

Professionally interacting with all departments, brands, and outside legal advisors

Provide legal support to the organization and support RK Centers ownership and COO/General Counsel in special projects as needed

Performing other duties as assigned

Ability to identify and assess issues and provide legally sound recommendations consistent with good business practices

Education/Experience:

Juris Doctorate

Member in good standing of Florida state bar

A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a commercial real estate legal department and/or large law firm specializing in commercial real estate contract law
