US General Counsel

Through our revolutionary platform banks can offer their end-customers a broad lineup of deposit products from different institutions, and also have their own products offered through a variety of point-of-sales. Most importantly, we allow people to have access to increased interest rates for their savings transparently, instantly, hassle-free and without ever leaving their home bank's ecosystem.

We are currently present in 18 european countries with almost 100 partner banks, with offices in Hamburg, Berlin, London, Paris, Zurich and New York. More than 14bn Euros have been transmitted through our B2C channels alone: Savedo and ZINSPILOT. We are looking for a General Counsel to join our team based in New York.

The role is based in New York and will report directly to the CEO. The GC takes the lead to design and build the contractual set-up and compliance environment for the deposit business of the future and manages its ongoing course. This responsibility requires a seasoned mix business acumen, deep legal know-how, teamwork and an entrepreneurial spirit.

What will keep you challenged:

Oversee all legal matters for the organization, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documents but also be able to draft documents

Manage external and internal lawyers

Ensure that the company is in compliance with all relevant processes, laws and regulations while exercising the highest level of integrity and ethics

Manage all litigation, claims and intellectual property matters, and represent the organization in all legal forums, including regulatory agencies, courts and arbitration bodies

Work cross-functionally with legal staff, senior leadership and outside counsels to collaborate and negotiate optimal resolutions to a wide spectrum of legal matters

Interact with the Commercial and the Finance teams to provide guidance and support related to contract terms and obligations

Advise and support Human Resources on matters related to labor and employment issues

Propose effective legal solutions to mitigate risk and further new business interests and objectives; escalate to outside counsel when appropriate

Analyze market and regulatory developments (e.g., privacy, information security, etc.) and work closely with subject matter experts to help ensure company's compliance with regulatory requirements

Carefully manage confidential information, communications and communication requests/requirements to and from external sources on high-impact issues

Ensure timely, high-quality analysis and advice on legal and business issues to internal clients

Participate in all due diligence, deal negotiation, and integration activities

What you bring with you:

Juris Doctor Degree with license to practice law New York required

Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in a general corporate legal practice, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience within the banking and finance sector

Business judgement and common sense

Strong and effective communication skills, both written and oral

Must be able to articulate and support the company’s legal position to both internal and external entities

Experience in negotiating transactions and managing legal compliance

Possess excellent analytical and issue-spotting skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities

Ability to draft complex agreements and contractual provisions

Experience working in a collaborative, high-performing team environment

Ability to take initiative on projects

Proven abilities as a solution-focused problem solver

A self-starter who is proactive, has a positive attitude and is able to cope with unexpected situations

Solution- and results-oriented with good judgement and ability to put things in the right perspective

Support in the handling of claims, settlement and litigation
