Job Overview

A key member of the leadership team and reporting to the CFO, the General Counsel leads all legal functions for the company.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Provides legal counsel and guidance on all legal matters, including among other things securities law, employment law, general government policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and laws specifically pertaining to medical device companies, contracts, tax matters, worker's compensation, liability and insurance matters.

Anticipates and identifies legal issues and advises on legal strategies and solutions.

Reviews, researches, interprets, and advises on a wide variety of legal issues.

Drafts, reviews, and approves policies and procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other corporate documents.

Reviews contracts, leases, and other legal documents and recommends revisions as necessary.

Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing, including oversight over third party law firms, to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff.

Develops and manages annual budgets for the legal team and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.

Selects, retains, and oversees outside counsel.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in college and university law and in other related areas.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment in the office and a home-based office setting. May be required to spend time in distribution/warehouse environment for completion of duties. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.

Qualifications

J.D. from an American Bar Association accredited law school.

10+ years of relevant experience, experience with medical devices and international operations preferred. Public company experience required.

Proven leadership and business acumen skills.

Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the Company.

Versatile, flexible, resilient, and willing to work within a high growth environment with enthusiasm and confidence.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
