General Counsel

We are currently searching for an experienced General Counsel to support corporate and our regions. This position will be located within our corporate office in Mobile, AL.

What you’ll be doing:

Overseeing the legal matters of Volkert

Advising executive members on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business

Manage current cases and contracts

Reviewing contracts

Advising and staying current with ethics laws in the states we operate in

Develop both client and employee relationships

Coordinate and communicate with outside counsel

Reviewing contracts

Provide valid business solutions to arising problems

Keeping a record of all legal documents and proceedings for Volkert

Crafting and/or reviewing legal strategy in response to any litigation

What you need to have:

J.D. Degree with license to practice law in Alabama

A minimum of ten (10) years at a law firm or in-house capacity serving clients

AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Construction) industry experience is preferred

Experience with contract lifecycle management and driving efficiencies in the contracting process

Demonstrates ability to strike a sensible and practical balance between legal risks and business goals

Ability to think critically and develop creative and practical solutions
