About The Role

Tropic is seeking a Head of Legal to create and build our Legal function. Based in our New York City headquarters office, this role will be a critical partner to our founders and executive team. We are looking for a strategic, passionate, and practical attorney to support and guide corporate matters, new product launches, and Tropic’s privacy concerns. While this will be a generalist role, you should have significant experience with corporate law, with an interest in data privacy. This role will support Tropic’s strategic vision and develop the business and legal strategies to execute on our mission.

What You’ll Work On

Lead and unify all legal work at Tropic

Craft and negotiate our contracts with customers, strategic partners, technology partners, and contractors

Partner with our product team to drive strategic and legal work underlying new product launches to protect users’ and confidential customer data

Lead and partner with outside counsel on all privacy compliance work including GDPR, CCPA and other regulations

Support our co-founders in preparing for Board Meetings

Grow the legal team as you and Tropic need additional support or expertise

Who You Are

5+ years of practicing law

2+ years of in-house startup experience (SaaS preferred)

Ambitious to expand legal expertise across Corporate and Privacy matters

Growth-mindset and curiosity to learn

JD and licensed to practice in New York or California
