Primary Responsibilities:

Provide OptumRx business leaders with effective advice and counsel on regulatory and transactional matters, as well as business strategies, with a focus on the operation of OptumRx’s different pharmacies

Operate in a strategic and pro-active manner to assist our internal business clients in managing their relationships with industry stakeholders, regulators, and network partners while managing the legal and regulatory risk related to the operation of pharmacies

Solid conflict management skills, as well as comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty

Skills that will be utilized to advise business leaders on potential liability and exposure and resolving disputes

Solid organizational agility to effectively navigate cross-functionally across key business and legal stakeholders to help drive business solutions and results

Function as part of a high performing, collegial team

As a member of the OptumRx legal team, close collaboration with colleagues is expected, as well as a willingness to adapt to the changing legal support requirements of our growing business

Provide ongoing education and training on best practices related to relationships with the supply chain

Participate in occasional business travel

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate degree

Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction

15+ years of legal experience in health care regulatory and/or transactional practices

Extensive experience working within the pharmacy cares services industry, including pharmacy operations, licensing, payer contracting, Medicaid/Medicare, Boards of Pharmacy, PBMs, drug enforcement agencies, the Food & Drug Administration, and related government actors

Supervisory Experience

Experience appearing before regulatory boards

Solid technical and functional skills, including legal research, legal analysis and drafting contracts, policies, procedures and/or other business documents, within the context of relevant regulatory frameworks

Solid business acumen, prioritize ongoing education in the relevant business practices and trends

Skilled in reading and understanding individuals and interpersonal agility to support building and maintaining rapport, trust and respect among superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts

Ability to motivate and engage people to excel and work together collaboratively to drive results

Solid verbal and written communication skills, presentation creation and delivery skills

Solid customer service and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Background as a healthcare professional (e.g. pharmacist, nurse, etc.)
